The use of harsh detergents and a high temperature laundry process is the standard treatment for the majority of our work wear. This contributes significantly to the overall environmental impact of the life cycle of each garment. 

 

Active detergent ingredients include surfactants, phosphates, caustics, optical brighteners, enzymes, solvents:

  • Reduce the life cycle of the garment.
  • Are toxic to fish and aquatic life.
  • Could have been tested on animals.
  • Can result in allergies in humans.

We recommend the new intelligent generation of eco laundry products, derived from plant extracts that will remove even oil and industrial dirt.

  • Buy durable garments to extend the life cycle.
  • Regular washing at lower temperatures *
  • Use sustainable intelligent natural product based laundry products.
  • Recycle when the garment has worn.

 

* The usual advice for Eco Laundry is to wash less often at low temperatures; however our research has shown that this is not always practical in the work environment. Garments laundered frequently at lower temperatures (30◦)

 before they are heavily soiled, extends the garments life cycle.
